July 13 - August 4, 2008
(ages 13-17)
The Walnut Hill Summer Opera program provides intensive training for vocalists in the art of vocal and opera performance, as well as scene work and study. Working with world-renowned performers and teachers, this inspiring program brings together accomplished young vocalists to form various scene study and performance groups. Students spend two weeks on the Walnut Hill campus rehearsing, attending coachings and master classes, and then approximately eight days in Italy studying and witnessing opera performance at La Scala and the Verona opera festival. They will also have the chance to visit the birthplaces and museums of Verdi and Donizetti.
We are currently accepting applications for the 2008 Summer Opera Program. Each applicant must submit an application, a $50.00 application fee, one recommendation, and an audition. All auditions should be submitted via CD/DVD. In special cases, electronic auditions may also be considered. If an applicant wishes to be considered for scholarship or financial aid, he or she must also submit an IRS 1040.
If you have any questions about the application or audition process please contact Sarah Van Doel, Assistant Dean for Admission and Placement at svandoel@walnuthillarts.org or by calling 508-650-5020. All interested vocalists are encouraged to apply by April 1, 2008.
