STUDENT LIFE

Our Community

Walnut Hill provides an open and supportive environment in which young artists can grow and develop. The School recognizes that our students face a rigorous schedule in which equal dedication to work in the arts and academics is vital. Students are asked to meet high standards and are given the encouragement to succeed. In turn, they contribute their personal goals, their willingness to work, their self-discipline, and their creative expression.

New students often comment on the pace of life on campus, and they quickly see that a structured day is a necessity in order to accomplish an education in both the academics and the arts. Even so, there is plenty of time for spontaneity, friendships, listening to music, exercise, and more! In addition to keeping up with their work, students are encouraged to maintain high spirits and low stress levels. Walnut Hill has an abiding commitment to artistic, scholastic, and community values. That commitment relies on respect, honesty, vision, flexibility, and understanding from every member of the Walnut Hill community, including students, their families, faculty, administration, and staff. We believe that students are responsible for their own actions, and that by setting forth a common code of conduct, students can best understand the expectations and responsibilities involved.
