The Fund for the Future of Walnut Hill
Through Walnut Hill's first three Long Range Plans and associated capital campaigns, a number of the School's most important goals have been fulfilled, including the building of the library, the theater and other arts facilities. Great strides were also made to strengthen the School's financial base. Significant progress was made in faculty compensation so that the School could continue to attract and retain the best possible faculty, and the increased endowment has supported talented students requiring financial assistance. The success of the Centennial Campaign (1988-1993), Our Place on the Hill (1995-1998), and The Path to Preeminence (1999-2005) has placed Walnut Hill in a position of preeminence.
In 2005, the School community completed work on its newest Long Range Plan, Rising to the Challenge of Success. The new plans calls for an increase in the size of the student body to 320 by 2010, and the construction of a new Campus Commons which will house approximately 40 students and faculty. The plan also calls for the further renovation of older, historic dormitories.
In addition, faculty compensation remains a top priority of the plan, as well as the continued growth of the endowment and student financial aid.
To meet these challenges, the Trustees launched a three-year effort called The Fund for the Future, ending in 2008 to coincide with the celebration of Stephanie Perrin’s Headship.
Due to early and strong support from alumni, parents, and friends, the goal of $12.3M was exceeded before June 2008, and the School opened Elizabeth Bishop Hall, its newest residence hall, in September of 2007.
In view of these achievements, the Board of Trustees voted in February 2008 to raise the goal for the Fund for the Future to $20M and to extend the campaign to June 2010.
Currently, $15.4M has been committed to this effort, which will serve not only as a capstone to Stephanie Perrin’s long and successful tenure as Head, but will also insure her legacy and position the School for the future on a strong and sustainable footing. If you would like more information about the Fund for the Future, or would like to make a gift, please contact:
