Walnut Hill is pleased to announce a new institutional initiative. We are hosting three free all-day Saturday workshops in Visual Art on November 1st, February 28th and April 4th for students from our neighboring communities. Students will have the chance to explore not only fundamental skills, but also will work in the genres of observational drawing, oil painting and ceramics. The workshop will be taught by Walnut Hill’s full-time artist/teachers.
Each session will introduce 15 area students in grades eight, nine or ten to techniques and processes of art-making as practiced at Walnut Hill. At the workshop, students will be introduced to observational drawing, the basics of oil painting, and ceramics. This is a processed-based workshop, emphasizing skill development, not finished product.
By exposing students to our faculty and training, we hope to further their development as artists, and to expand their vision of what the study of writing can mean to them. We also hope that being chosen for this honor will itself increase self-confidence and commitment to developing their skills under their school’s guidance.
Because enrollment is limited to 15 students, we encourage you to consider this opportunity soon. Please see links below for our application form and nomination form (must be filled out by Art Teacher).
For the November 1st Workshop, please send all materials in by October 15th to:
