Walnut Hill currently maintains computers on campus that are available for student use. The School Library and the Computer Lab in the Academic and Technology Center provide both PCs and Macintosh computers. The Writing Studio contains a teaching lab of iMacs, while the Theater Department maintains PCs for instruction in lighting and set design.
Many departments expect assignments to be word-processed, and so students may also prefer to maintain personal computers in order to work at their own convenience. It is strongly recommended that students with their own computers also have their own printers. The School does not provide students with email accounts or Internet access in their dormitory rooms. High-speed Internet access is available in the Library, and students may use those computers to access the Internet and set up free email accounts with Yahoo, Hotmail, Excite, or the like. For a fee, students may arrange for wireless Internet access in their rooms. (See the Handbook, “Identification, Communication, and Transportation.”)
Computer usage policies are delineated in the School Policies section of the Guide to Walnut Hill.
